- Describe an experience, event, or occasion that has brought you joy? Was the rejoicing short-lived or has it continued to the present?
- Jesus stated that the angels in heaven rejoice when one sinner repents, Luke 15:7, 10. How does your family celebrate when a member of the family makes the decision to be a follower of Christ?
- How is the celebration of a sinner who repents different from other celebratory events like graduations, birthday parties, and wedding receptions?
- In Acts 8:8 we are informed that there was much rejoicing in the city of Samaria. We know that the rejoicing was due to the people believing in the Lord through the ministry of Philip, Acts 10:12. God used Philip who was not an apostle but a deacon of the church. Just think that an entire city was rejoicing because of people believing in Jesus. How is this encouraging you to share the gospel with others?
- Think on the following Scriptures: Acts 8:39; Acts 11:23; Acts 13:48, 52; Acts 16:34.
- What is the common action that is found on all these occasions?
- What have you noticed to be the reason that caused the action?
- Over the past months there have been much civil unrest and violence in several cities here in the US and other countries. What significant impact do you suppose the gospel could have in these places? How can you help to bring about changes like what you have seen in the Scriptures?
- Examine Psalm 126:5-6. What about your community, family, country, or the world is causing you to be in tears? What “seed” can you sow now that can bring about “fruit” later that will cause you to shout for joy? Pray this prayer daily from Romans 10:1 “Lord my desire and prayer to you today is for the salvation of ………………………………………..”(FILL IN THE NAME OF THE PERSON YOU ARE PRAYING FOR).
