Going Deeper: Reflection and Application Questions for Week Ending February 6, 2021
Sermon Topic: The More You Bless, the More You Will Be Blessed
- If you were asked to count your blessings, what would be your number one? Why would this be?
- Abraham’s servant acknowledged that God had blessed Abraham. What are some practices that we can engage in that would cause those in our household and your acquaintances to be able to tell others that God has blessed us?
- How do you plan to show that you believe these words of Jesus: It is more blessed to give than to receive?
- What would you say is your greatest motivation and reason to be a cheerful giver?
- Abraham rescued Lot. Have you ever been rescued, (helped) or have you rescued someone? Share your rescue story. What are the after-effects by you or towards you?
- Abraham refused to take any of the booty from the king of Sodom. Think carefully about what Abraham said to him:
Gen. 14:22-24 “I have sworn to the LORD God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth, that I will not take a thread or a sandal thong or anything that is yours, for fear you would say, ‘I have made Abram rich’, I will take nothing except what the young men have eaten, and the share of the men who went with e, Aner Eshcol and Mamre; let them take their share”.
Answer these questions in light of what is said about Abram, Gen. 13:2,6;24:35. Would you say it was Abraham’s pride why he made that decision? Would you say he rejected the offer because he would have felt guilty or ashamed? What are your thoughts about using what is designated/dedicated for the LORD’S cause for personal purposes?
- The promise of Philippians 4:19…How much of this do you believe?
